Television Limbo

Ξ May 15th, 2007 | → | ∇ Film & Television |

Television… No, I’m not talking about all the series and pilots waiting to hear if they’re picked up for the 2007-2008 season. Instead, I’m referring to “how low can you go”. Television has always pushed boundaries, some for better, some for worse. Recently, however, the levels to which reality and pseudo-news have sunk are truly abysmal, with no redeeming qualities at all. The latest? The proposed Joey Buttafuoco-Amy Fisher reunion special/series. How despicable can we get? Does anybody honestly think this is a good idea? Is making a quick buck so important as to throw out all concept of societal good taste? Fortunately the O.J. Simpson “If I Had Done It…” special was axed due to public uproar, and his publisher paid the price. If only the same would happen here.
