Jury Duty

Ξ January 4th, 2008 | → | ∇ Nate Life |

Today I was called that most reviled requirement of American citizenship, jury duty. Needless to say, I wasn’t looking forward to my “duty”, although I did luck out — not only was I never called in for an interview, I was released in what must have been a near record four hours. The sad thing is, I think it would actually be quite interesting to serve on a jury, if it weren’t such a financial hardship to do so. $15.00 plus $0.34 per mile (one way!) is a joke. That’s not a living wage anywhere in this country, especially not in Los Angeles. Something needs to be done to change the system, though it would take to pay jurors fairly without bankrupting the system, who knows. Any ideas?
