So for anyone who is interested in seeing what I’ve been up to at Automatic Pictures, I’ve been overseeing the development of a 2D Massively Multiplayer Online called Card Soldier Wars (cardsoldierwars.com). The game is now live! I invite you all to visit the site, sign up to play, and let me know what you think. Thanks!

I promised at the beginning of the year to make my blog personal, and looking over my posts from the last week, I really haven’t done so far. That’s because it’s actually been a very personal week for me. My grandmother suffered a heart attack, one of my cats had a scheduled surgery, and my other cat had to be rushed to the emergency room the next night with an ulcer on his inner eyelid. All three are now recovering nicely and life is getting back to normal. So 2008 is finally starting for me, just a week late!

Today I was called that most reviled requirement of American citizenship, jury duty. Needless to say, I wasn’t looking forward to my “duty”, although I did luck out — not only was I never called in for an interview, I was released in what must have been a near record four hours. The sad thing is, I think it would actually be quite interesting to serve on a jury, if it weren’t such a financial hardship to do so. $15.00 plus $0.34 per mile (one way!) is a joke. That’s not a living wage anywhere in this country, especially not in Los Angeles. Something needs to be done to change the system, though it would take to pay jurors fairly without bankrupting the system, who knows. Any ideas?

I’ve been thinking about the nature of this blog and have come to the realization that it is lacking a personal nature. Commentary is great (and will always be a part of my musings here), but the human elements to which readers of a “personal” blog would relate have, to date, been lacking here. So I resolve to open up, for lack of a better term, and welcome you into my world. I hope you approve! And I did say blog resolutions (plural). I also resolve to write more often, perhaps even daily, but only as long as I have something worth saying–no posting for posting’s sake. As for non-blog resolutions… those shall remain fodder for another day.
